Devious Comments
Especially when it comes to people who get quite a few pages of comments on their work, I don't often expect to get a reply- though getting a simple 'thank you' is always really nice! ^-^
I don't even always reply to all my comments. I mean, if it's just a 'cool' or 'nice', and if I have a small number of comments already it seems a little redundant to me to be posting a bunch of simple 'thank yous'. But I guess maybe I should get into the habit of replying to every one I get- I mean, I still appreciate even the little ones, eh? :3

I didn't actually vote for it, but yeah. I can understand not replying to dumb comments like "cool" or "cute ^__^," especially if it's a really popular artist or whatever.
But I hate it when someone leaves a legitimate comment they've put effort and thought into and gets ignored (especially if it's me leaving it, hah). Although even that I'll let go, if there isn't anything to actually reply to, it's okay to skip the "thanks." But you should always answer questions in comments and at least thank the people, especially if they comment on your artwork regularly.
It's so awesome that you make an effort to comment when you maybe didn't want to omg

BUT YAH, THANKS FOR MOLESTING ME. *attempts to molest back*
I can sort of understand the short comments though - it's noticable in the more popular artist's work that they receive loads of brief, hasty comments that don't really do much. I think it's because people just don't want to waste time typing out what they really think when it's not even going to be read/answered. In that case it's really the artist's fault I suppose :/

But sometimes I know it's hard for people to write whole lot- though I guess it shouldn't be too hard for them to write a proper sentence instead of just one word.

Yeah, I think it depends a lot on the artist. I will even check past works to see if they're the type to respond to comments when I decide whether or not to leave one. x: I don't want to waste my time.
The other really annoying thing is when they ignore any comments but the ones from their friends. =/
